New Central Vista likely to have 8 New buildings in New Delhi

Government’s ambitious project, Central Vista redevelopment project is likely to accommodate Eight new government office buildings, a new Parliament House and a residential complex that could house the homes of the Prime Minister and the Vice President of India.

Sources said that the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) is likely to issue tenders for individual projects of a common Central Secretariat for Ministries and the construction of New Parliament building by February 2020.

A Gujarat based architecture firm, HCP Design has already been finalised as consultant for the project in October 2019. The planning and design work is already in process.

The process of the land use change of a 9.5 acre plot was started on December 21, 2019. According to the December 21 notification, the Master Plan 2021 of Delhi would be amended to change the plot opposite the existing Parliament House from ‘recreational’ land use to ‘Parliament House’.  The new Development would be below the height of the India Gate. While the existing buildings like Shastri Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, Krishi Bhawan, Nirman bhawan and Vigyan bhawan will be demolished in phases, the sources said.
