Goa College of Architecture has to be elevated, CM told

The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)- Goa Chapter has made a presentation to the Chief  Minister Pramod Sawant regarding up-gradation of the Goa College of Architecture besides its relocation to new premises. 

“Goa College of Architecture has to be elevated to a different level, in particular to a new complex which will be in tune with the norms set by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi,” IIA Chairman stated in the proposal to CM. 

The IIA said that the college could be potentially shifted the Lyceum Educational Complex in Altinho. Currently housing the high court building, the Lyceum complex is said to have five blocks and could serve as a roof for the institute. 

The IIA further stated that they would like to assist the state government with “a long term institute building strategy and a design friendly road map” to create a design centre in the country. 

“In addition, IIA would like to facilitate the architecture college in setting up a planning cell that could offer services in architecture and planning in various expertise with resources available among architects practicing in Goa.” The proposal read.(Source:TOI)
