Are we at the precipice of the next A.I. renaissance? Deep-learning is already replacing us in driving and predicting diseases, now its moved onto the field of creativity and design.
Are we being replaced? Are these technologies just copying data and not ‘designing’? I think we can neither be too pessimistic nor too dismissive.
The Second Digital Turn (Carpo) highlighted that we are moving from “tools for making” to “tools for thinking”. Thus it can have the potential inform and inspire our design intent.
For the concern of data duplication, If an 8×8 chess board can generate near infinite games, imagine the possible combination of millions of concepts and ideas.
