Suggestions requested on a proposal for Comprehensive Amendments to the Architects Act, 1972

The Council of Architecture (COA) has requested views/ suggestions/ inputs from the architecture fraternity on a proposal for Comprehensive Amendments to the Architects Act, 1972.

As per the COA, In order to overcome the various challenges and lacuna faced in the implementation of the Architects Act, 1972, the Council after consultation with various stakeholders prepared a proposal for Comprehensive Amendments to the Architects Act, 1972. These amendments address the concerns relating to regulation of Architectural Education as well as Architectural Practice and also streamline the architectural practice.

The Council of Architecture has requested views/ suggestions/ inputs from the architecture fraternity to strengthen the proposal so that all the issues affecting the architectural fraternity and general public are addressed and a consolidated proposal is put up to the Government of India for amending the Act in the interest of our fraternity and our fellow citizens at large.

The Architects Act 1972 was enacted by the Indian Parliament in the year 1972 to provide for registration of architects all over India and to regulate the standards of architectural education and profession in the country.
